Receiving the IASSL Best Research Awards 2024 Undergraduate Second Runner-Up

On 6th April 2025, I received the Second Runner-Up Award in the Undergraduate Category of the Institute of Applied Statistics Sri Lanka (IASSL) Best Research Awards – 2024, for my final year research entitled “Optimizing Feature Selection in Spam Email Detection Using Co-Evolutionary Algorithms”. The research was conducted under the supervision of Professor T.G.I. Fernando and focuses on the application of co-evolutionary algorithms in machine learning for feature selection in spam email detection. The award recognizes the advancement of feature-selection techniques within computer science and underscores the Department’s commitment to innovative research.

This recognition motivates me to continue advancing machine learning and evolutionary computation in practical domains, and I’m grateful to everyone who supported this journey.
